The Days Between are a sacred time for the devoted fans of The Grateful Dead. Starting with Jerry Garcia’s birthday on August 1, and ending with the anniversary of his passing on August 9, the Days Between<\/strong> is an annual celebration of Jerry Garcia’s music & legacy among Deadheads. Here’s where you can celebrate this year:<\/p>\n

1. Jerry Garcia Bobblehead Night – New York City – August 1-6, 2023<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The New York Yankees have teamed up with the Jerry Garcia Family for a Days Between event called “Jerry Garcia Bobblehead Night<\/em>“. For the games running August 1 to August 6<\/strong>, the first 3,000 fans who purchase tickets will receive an exclusive New York Yankees Jerry Garcia bobblehead<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A portion of the proceeds from each ticket will go to The Dead s nonprofit, the Rex Foundation<\/a>, which provides extensive community support to small organizations making an impact in the arts, sciences, education, the environment, and social justice.<\/p>\n

2. Jerry Garcia’s Birthday Party with Dead Meat – Port Chester, NY – August 1, 2023<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Garcia’s at The Cap is a perfect place to celebrate Jerry Garcia this Jerry Day! In partnership with the family of Jerry Garcia, the legendary Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY christened its “lobby bar” as Garcia’s in honor of the late Grateful Dead guitarist and singer, who counted the Capitol Theater among his favorite venues in the country. Party with regional tribute band Dead Meat<\/strong> at Jerry Garcia’s Birthday Party happening on Jerry Day Tuesday August 1, 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

3. Jazz is Dead – San Francisco, DC, St. Louis, Eugene, Portland & Seattle – August 1-August 13, 2023<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Formed by a super-group of musicians in 1998, Jazz is Dead<\/strong> has continued to dig into the Grateful Dead songbook & make it their own with an ever-evolving lineup. Following their return to the stage in January 2023, the group is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Jazz is Dead with Alphonso Johnson, Steve Kimock, Pete Lavezzoli, and Bobby Lee Rodgers,<\/strong> performing renditions from the ‘Wake of the Flood’ album, and more.<\/p>\n

4. 13th Annual Jerryfest – Austin, TX – August 4 & 6, 2023<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Heads in Texas know all too well about the annual Jerry Day Celebration at Antone’s in Austin. Antone’s is Austin’s go-to blues bar & has been pouring drinks & showcasing live music acts in Austin since 1975. This year marks the 13th Annual JerryFest at Antone’s<\/strong>, and will feature 2-nights of live Dead tunes from local Austin-based tribute act Deadeye August 4 & 5, 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

5. Sunshine Garcia Band & Dead Set at Oracle Park – San Francisco, CA – August 2, 2023<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Those who attended last month’s Dead & Company Tour closer know that Dead music at Oracle Park<\/strong><\/a> is as San Francisco as it gets! On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, the Sunshine Garcia Band <\/strong>will take the stage with members of Zach Nugent’s Dead Set<\/strong>. The event is part of the San Francisco Giants’ annual Grateful Dead Night, and will conclude with a face-off between the San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Proceeds from the concert event will go on to benefit the Grateful Dead’s charity organization, The<\/strong> Rex Foundation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

6. Owsley’s Owls – A Days Between Celebration in Brooklyn, NY – August 2, 2023<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

7. Ekoostik Hookah – The 35th Jerry Garcia Birthday Bash – Trips Farms, West Virigina – August 3 – August 6, 2023<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

JGBB35 will be a small, intimate gathering to celebrate the life and times of Jerry Garcia. The 35th Annual celebration<\/strong> promises to be a spectacular celebration of music and community in honor of the late Jerry Garcia’s birthday. The event will feature the legendary Columbus, OH formed jamband Ekoostik Hookah + dozens more. <\/strong>Fans can expect a mesmerizing blend of improvisation, psychedelic tunes, and infectious energy throughout the 3-day festival at The Sunshine Daydream Memorial Park at Trip’s Farm in Terra Alta<\/strong>, WV<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
