For years, music fans have battled exploitative ticketing practices. Scalpers, hidden fees, bots, and inflated prices have made live events unfair. Yesterday’s executive order is a step toward addressing this broken system and we hope it brings visibility to the importance of transparency and fairness in ticketing.
Here are four key points from the executive order that fans should know:
Crackdown on Scalpers & Bots – The government is taking action against ticket scalpers who use bots to buy up tickets and resell them at extreme markups, ensuring fans have a fairer chance to buy tickets at face value.
Enforcement of Consumer Protection Laws – The FTC and state officials will try to strictly enforce laws like the Better Online Ticket Sales (BOTS) Act to prevent deceptive and unfair practices in the ticketing industry.
Price Transparency Requirements – Ticket sellers, including resale platforms, may be required to clearly display all fees upfront so fans can see the total cost before purchasing.
Accountability for Ticketing Companies – The government will investigate anti-competitive practices by ticketing agencies and ensure scalpers comply with tax laws, making the market fairer for artists and fans.
At CashorTrade, we’ve led this movement since 2009—built by fans, for fans.
Since day one, CashorTrade has put fans first with the only social ticketing platform offering face-value tickets—no scalpers, bots, or surprise fees. Built to fix a broken system, not compete with ticketing giants, we believe fans deserve fair access to live events. With over a million fans within the CashorTrade network and $30 million in face-value transactions last year, the demand for change is clear.
